Fly Me To The Moon

"Fly Me to the Moon" is a pop standard song written by Bart Howard in 1954.

I realised today that I last posted here on 13th July, which is almost two months ago. I feel bad that I have neglected my readers in such a haphazard way, and must immediately apologise for this.

Of course, my readership is limited to three people, at least that I know of. I learnt recently of an additional person who reads this, other than Anna and Vicky, and must say that I was pleasantly surprised! Although now I feel a certain amount of pressure to perform! With Anna and V I know that they find most of what I say interesting, but I am fairly sure that is not the case with anyone else!

I am writing this blog without a title, as I can't think of one. I was going to have one that related to a wedding, because I recently attended a very important one (more on that shortly), but I couldn't think of anything good enough for a title. I am silly enough to want a title that refers to the subject matter of the post without being too explicit, I prefer for it to be a little cryptic. I also considered some sort of ABBA reference, as I am slightly obsessed at the moment with all things ABBA, having seen Mamma Mia! twice in recent weeks. But I couldn't think of anything cryptic enough - every song title in Wikipedia seems to refer directly to the song and not to another subject. Although...I may have just had a thought. We'll see. OK, so I have just thought of one, completely unrelated to ABBA.

So, the wedding. My brother Matthew married his fiancée Kelly just over 2 weeks ago. The wedding took place in Leicestershire, which is where Kelly is from, and it was the most amazing day. I was a bridesmaid, I wore a turquoise dress from Debenhams, and it was a lovely dress (if a little low cut). And their first dance was to 'Fly Me to the Moon' (Hence the blog title). Kelly looked amazing, and I cried throughout most of the ceremony (as I tend to do at weddings). It was really a lovely day, and I wish we could do it again! But, we can't! I can't help feeling, although it hasn't actually been said, that there is a sense of 'Jane's next' on the wedding front. Needless to say that this isn't going to happen any time soon! Actually I think Abbie is likely to beat me down the aisle! I do keep thinking about potential themes for my hen night though. My current favourite is 1970s/ABBA...

...Which segues quite nicely into my next topic for discussion - Mamma Mia. I went to see it for the second time last night, and I love it! I would probably go and watch it again! The storyline is good, although somewhat predictable, but the way they fit the music into the film is brilliant. There wasn't a song used that I didn't enjoy, even though I didn't know all of them. I put Kim's ABBA Gold CD onto my iPod as soon as possible, and then my wonderful boyfriend bought me the film soundtrack, which I love.

So, this blog turned out a lot longer than I intended. Sorry to anyone reading it who got bored!
